There was a moment in the first half of The Great Gatsby, where I thought it would actually work, that Baz Luhrmann might actually have something to say about this work and how it relates to life today. I think it might have been the white chauffer, who is actually mentioned in the book not that i noticed before now.
And then it disappeared and I spent the second half of the movie wondering what the Robert Redford version was like.
